Executive Chef Ömer Bozyap

``Ömer Bozyap, born in the vibrant city of Istanbul, is distinguished by a remarkable and diverse life journey characterized by academic excellence and culinary innovation.``

``Following his graduation from Kadikoy Anatolian High School, Bozyap embarked on a career in electrical and electronics engineering abroad, founding an engineering firm that served as the cornerstone for his unconventional transition into the culinary sphere. Subsequently, he enrolled in the Gastronomy program at Yeditepe University, marking the commencement of a transformative culinary odyssey. Bozyap honed his culinary expertise at prestigious establishments, including Alain Ducasse's renowned Le Jules Verne in the heart of Paris, XV Louis in the opulent surroundings of Monte Carlo, and the seafood havens of Osaka. Motivated by an unquenchable thirst for culinary knowledge, he embarked on a global expedition, spanning over 60 countries, immersing himself in diverse culinary traditions and conducting extensive research. Upon his return to his native land, Ömer established his inaugural burger establishment in Göztepe, inspired by a memorable hamburger experience.``
``Remarkably, within a mere 18 months, he transformed this enterprise into a flourishing London-based burger chain, boasting five thriving locations. Subsequently, Ömer divested his burger empire to embark on a new gastronomic journey, giving rise to 'OCAK,' a restaurant that pays homage to Anatolian culinary traditions. Nestled in a historic enclave, 'OCAK' seamlessly marries Anatolian warmth with world-class service, thus earning its place in the esteemed 2023 Michelin Guide. Beyond his culinary endeavors, Ömer Bozyap is a dedicated educator at Yeditepe University, where he imparts his vast knowledge and expertise, facilitating his students' connection with the rich tapestry of Turkish gastronomy.
